Hey ! Daily Sun is using SunChirps

Daily Sun is South Africa's largest daily paper. It is read by over 4.6 million people a day - the new Average Joes - Mr and Mrs Tshabalala. Its brother, Sunday Sun, is the fastest-growing Sunday paper in SA - and talks to a weekend market of 2.6 million people who cannot be ignored. Making a mobi impression

Loyal readers of this here ezine will know by now that we have been entering, slowly but surely, the brave new world of mobile.

We took the decision to offer our readers something different to what they can find on other newspaper mobisites... we don't do news- we DISCUSS the news. Our new mobisite, www.dailysun.mobi, launched this past Monday - and offers readers a platform on which they can comment on our stories, discuss issues of the day, raise opinions and - in true People's Paper style - have a voice.
The mobisite, as we see it, is a brand extension to what we already do - offering a place of fun and interactivity - tailor-made for our market. Over and above the forum, which we call SunChat, the site also offers "cool" ringtones, wallpapers and downloads. There's also an up-to-the-minute sports section, jokes, competitions and an electronic way to contact our SunDefender, Mr. Fixit and the newsroom.
One of the most exciting (and visited) parts to the new site is the "Tell us your story" section, a place where readers send us news tip-offs from around SunLand.
Week 1 has delivered some impressive results.

Since Monday, we have had 59 889 page impressions, been tipped off on some astonishing news stories and received some very encouraging feedback. Here's a snapshot of what some of our mobi-readers are saying (and forgive the sms-lingo - as I said...it's a brave new world!):

"Thanx daily sun 4 keeping da promise dis mobi site rocks i'm addicted 2 dis mobi i luv daily sun"
"Sunmobi rocks, thank u for making our lifes so easy.keep it up"
"I neva seen a rockin site lyk dis. Ziyawa sho!!"
"This site is great. U get what u want very easily. I urge SUN readers who have not yet visited this site 2 do so."
"I think we should buy this paper more than ever before to help it grow even more. Daily Sun keep it up!"
"I logged in today, great stuff guys. I love the topics, tk u desevre a year supply of free whiskey for this."
.
..and so the flattery continues.

We have all kinds of plans for new additions to the site, and when readers ask for a Jokes section, like they did this week, we listen. We're sure that our new developments will add even more SunStyle to the mobi-mix.
